Is it ok to use enamel primer to be covered over with acrylic and masked or will the acrylic pull up?  Is lacquer better?

I have not had any problems spraying acrylic over enamel, laquer, or poly (valeijo) primers.

One problem these days with primers is that many cans do not really identify the type of paint.  Acrylic enamels and acrylic lacquers are now on shelves, so even if it says lacquer or enamel, you don't know if it is an acrylic enamel or a solvent enamel- same with lacquers.  All I know is I stick with Krylon primer, and everything I have used with it works okay.  I HAVE had problems with Rustoleum primer and various paints.

I frequently use Model Master enamel primer - among others - and haven't had any better or worse adhesion issues than with Gunze Mr. Surfacer. And the primer has NEVER lifted.
