want to start with a happy new year to everyone and Go Big Red to all the college football fans out there. i recently started shooting floquil with my airbrush. i like it to the point of not even thinning it and it shoots great. does floquil make anything in a gloss? or is better to spray it then apply a liberal gloas coat?

Here's Floquil's website:

http://www.testors.com/category/133504/Floquil,

It may have answers for you.  It looks like all their military paints are acrylics?  I've never used them.

I didn't realize Testors had acquired Floquil.  I use some of Floquil's model RR colors, in enamels.  Their silver paints are good for natural metal finishes.  Years ago, they had a nice line of enamal military paints, too, but they went out of production.
