Airbrushes

Hard to go wrong with a Badger 200 or 150, or a Paache VL.  There are a number of other good ones, but those I mentioned are very popular.  You have another, almost more important decision- what compressor?

The ones Don mentioned are good.  For a gravity fed airbrush, the Badger Patriot is a good solid general purpose brush. For siphon fed, my favorite is the Badger 155 Anthem.  Check out my reviews.

Does any one have an air compressor that they like that is basic but not to expensive?

I don't think you will find an airbrush that is easier to clean than the 155.  Maybe this  page will help.

Don, do you go through that precess at the end of the day, or every time changing color?

It seems to me that a gravity feed airbrush could have been easier. (Yes, I know that you don't like the color cup blocking the view in a gravity feed.)

Donn it may be my technique , but no matter how well I think I've cleaned mine , there always seems to be some hidden tiny pockets of paint even after a teardown and soaking. 

I will admit that my 155 is quite worn and probably overdue for a complete rebuild and tuning.

I just seem to have to spend an inordinate time tearing down and cleaning it.

I don't mind tho , it's my #1 workhorse

Don I like how you hold the nozzle with the cloths pin. I have the Patriot and that little bugger is slippery.

No, when changing colors I just flush and go unless I've been spraying something like silver.

Well, OK, the Patriot is a little easier because you don't have a separate cup.  And, with the Patriot I can swab out the body without removing the head.  So, I exaggerated a little.  I'm used to the gravity cup now and it doesn't bother me.

Using lacquer thinner and an interdental brush, mine stays pretty clean. It might be more of a problem if you're using acrylics and a milder solvent.  But, that's going to be true for any airbrush.  And, like I say on the page, you could probably skip steps 9 through 15 most of the time.

I've seen videos where they tear the whole dang brush apart, and I can't figure out why.  The only parts touched by paint are the needle, the tip, the cup, and the front part of the body.

The 155 is still my favorite too.

Thanks,Bill.  The clothespin saves me a lot of fumbling.  I got tired of hunting for that little bugger when it slipped out of my fingers.
