Help needed - Atlantis PT310 Compressor
Posted by Black_trek on Monday, January 9, 2012 2:01 PM

Hiya

I have a Atlantis PT310 compressor.  I seem to be getting a small leakage of Air in and around the switch area on the main case.  First question, Should a compressors casing be completely air tight?

I have tried to track done someone who services the Atlantis compressor here in the UK, do get some advice on whether the compressor needs repaired or not.  I have had no luck so far.  Can anyone out there help.

The compressor looks like the old Badger 180-10 diaphram type compressor. It is a low power, low pressure unit. You can get a regulator/filter unit to find out exactly how much pressure you are getting. If you can get 20 psi or higher, it is operating normally.

The compressor motor needs cooling during opeation and there is always air coming out of the case. The cylinder head should be air tight. You can find a Badger manual here if you lost your Allantis manual.

Is this it;

If it is, it may be worth dropping http://www.compak.com.au/ an email & asking the question.

Thanks for your help Guys,

Yes that is the picture of it and thanks for the manual.

I attached a pressure Gauge/Moisture trap o to it and I was getting about 15 PSI, It was my first experience with a Gauge and the need was shaking alot is this Normal.

I have been thinging of treating myself to a new compressor as this one is quite old now, but would be nice to find out if there is a problem with it to justify buying a new compressor.  I will drop an email to Compak.

Thanks Again

Maximum pressure is quoted at 30psi, but that's possibly at no load/flow, add in things like wear, guage inaccuracy & power supply variations, 15psi is possible - if you feel that there has been a deterioration in performance, it possible that the diaphragm (part 13 in the manual Keilau linked to) is starting to wear & become more flexible than it originally was. If you're in the slightest bit mechanically minded replacing the diaphragm shouldn't be difficult.

With regards to guage fluctuations the PT310 is a diaphram compressor & these are more prone to pressure fluctuations than piston compressors................
