It wasn't unusual for the Sovs  (and their allies in the Warsaw Pact) to paint their armor gloss green w/gloss white trim for important parades (eg the May Day Parades in Red Square) - other than that I believe they were painted in flat green

I've used Testors dullcoat on just about everything. You shouldn't have any problems.

I am not familiar with these paints, they may have used them as they are the only ones in there range that match the right colour. If this kit has decals, then you will need a gloss service anyway. I always paint my model with gloss paint, safes adding a gloss layer. If your kit doesn't have decals, you can do which ever you decide.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

A shiny tank?

Folks, I have something of a novice question. I am building Trumpeter's 1/35 scale T-62 tank and the painting scheme calls for Mr Color yellow and green. However, I noticed that the paints are semigloss. Thirty years in the Army, and I've never seen a shiny tank. Should I switch to flat paints (I've just painted road wheels so far), or is it OK to overspray with Testor's Dullcote when I am finished. Thanks.
