Experience with Portable Spray Booth
Posted by Brian D. on Friday, January 27, 2012 4:04 PM

I am wondering if anyone out there has the Model Expo portable spray booth?  If you own one, what has your experience been with it?

Thanks,

Brian

I have one as my home built one died and this was cheaper than a new fan. Works great but buy the hose kit also as it does not come with a way to vent the fumes outside.I have had it about 6-8 months and love it. I leave it set up as it dosen't take much room but its very easy to set up/take down. I got it when it was on sale for $99 +/-

That's good to hear, John.  I just bought one and it came with the hose.  I am just airbrushing with acrylics.  Not spraying enamels or lacquers.

Do you spray Tamiya paints?   I was wondering if it was safe to do so as I think they are flammable (at least that's what it says on the bottle.

Thanks,

Brian

I have used it with most every kinda paint,Model Master,Tamyia,Valejio air and regular,Badger and Life color. worked great with all. I thought it might be too small when I saw it on the web-site but It has worked well for everything so far,I build mostly 1/35th armor and 1/48th and 1/72 planes.I have a few 1/350th ships to do and I don't think they will fit.

I have one and it works great with Valljo and Tamiya paints.

Go to Amazon, you can find the same booth with hose kits for just $79. That's what I did, it's the very same booth.

Yes, I just bought the same one.  That's  good to hear that it works with Tamiya and Vallejo since that is what I primarily use.

What kind of setup do you have - basement, apartment, room in the house?  Do you have it exhaust to outside.  For me the fumes are sometimes a little strong for Tamiya (not enamels or lacquer though) so I wonder how it takes care of that.

I just use it in a room. So far it's good enough for the Valljo and Tamiya  paints but if I start to use any other paints I'll run the hose though the window,

Who was the seller? Can you provide a link to the Amazon page? I cannot find it. Thank you in advance.
