Model Master Insignia white problem

Most likely the paint as not properly mixed before you sprayed it. When MM enamel paint takes more than a half hour hour to dry to the touch when airbrushed it was not stirred enough in my experience. Ya just gotta wait it out. I recommend that you do not apply anything over it until it is completely dried and cured.

I have tried every trick to make Model Master gloss paints dry rapidly. None of them work. Either wait a week, or after a day or so hit it with some gloss lacquer. 

I think it has to do with the humidity here in Texas.

But isn't IW a flat color?

I'm going to go with mixing anomaly as well. Put it somewhere safe and maybe turn an incandescent lamp on it to lightly "bake" it dry.

Also, FWIW, I've never had good luck with MM white - if it has to be white, I'll go Tamiya or Gunze every time.

Hmmm. I'm not sure if it's a flat color or not. I unfortunately smudged the tacky paint, so i'm gonna strip and start over....  I only have enamel paint which isn't effected by lacquer clears. Maybe it's time for a change from enamel to acrylic.

I just realized that I practiced on an old 72nd Tomcat and it has cured quite nicely!? What did I do? I think you guys are right, and the mix was off a bit. Hard to say now...

I tried Iw on my corsair, had problems with it, went out and got a Tamiya white primer

not a fan of MM whites. always gave me problems. when it comes to white i use tamiya.

I like to use modelmaster flat white enamel,then I gloss coat it afterwards with their enamel clear gloss,then you don't have to deal with the drying problem

That works too. It seems there is not much difference between Model Master flat white and insignia white... I decanted some Tamiya insignia white and it is very close to a light gray. Not sure what I'll choose to do yet but thanks for the responses!
