I have had troubles with a number of new Testors spray cans- especially the clears- but even the color cans seem to act a bit different.

Enamels take a long time to set, but on the other hand, I always take the masking tape off as soon as possible.  That means second, third coats, etc.  need to be done expeditiously.

If you need to sand between coats, that is something else, you can sand off any tape marks, but then always get the tape off the last coat ASAP.

Cadet Chuck

I suspect Testors and other paint manufacturers have been under pressure to change their formulas from the whacko environmental activists, based on nonsensical false premises.

If you can't get good paint anymore, there goes the hobby down the drain.  I recommend Tamiya, Vallejo, and other off-shore brands if you can get them.

Sad state of affairs, ain't it?

This is disturbing, and I hope false. They can dance around the maypole on their own time, but leave my hobby alone!

Well this is a scary notion - its already hard enough to get Tamia primer, just think how hard it will be to get stuff shipped from Hong Kong, and in limited numbers - I like my acrylic for some stuff but I'm all about enamels - I really hope manufacturers don't fall into the environmental trap!

Without a doubt.....I actually heard a rumor that Testors was going to do away with their entire enamel line and go with acrylics only. Of course, I doubt this is true. If it is, I'm hurtin'.

Model Master sprays...New formula?

Has Model Master changed the formula in their spray cans?  I'm having trouble with their gunship gray rattle cans.  I've been using these for several years without any problems.  Recently, I spayed a plane overall gunship gray, and the paint never cured.  5 days later it was still tacky with no progress.  Usually, gunship gray dries very quickly for me.  I tossed the model and bought another with a new can of MM gunship gray.  This time, the paint did dry, albeit much slower than usual.  After a few days, I masked off some areas with Tamiya tape.  After I removed the tape, it left marks on my paint job!  You could clearly see where the tape was!  I don't get it....MM gunship gray was always my least hassle paint...  I know, I know...Someone will say, "You didn't let the paint cure."  Maybe that's true, but I used to be able to mask over MM gunship gray the next day and never had an issue...
