I want to use the hairspary technique on a model tank to simulate chipping / rusting but not sure of the dry times.
Fist I will prime model with Tamiya Fine surface lacquer primer followed by a coat of Vallejo cavalry brown "rust" color around the panel lines and areas where I want the rusting / chipping to show. The lacquer primer dries fast so an hour or 2 would be fine before I spray on the Vallejo acrylic.
How long should I let the Vallejo dry before I spray model with a light coat of hairspray?
Once I spray the model with the hairspray how long before I spray the color coat on top of the hairspray?
After the colorcoat when do you start doing the chipping?
Does the hairspray dry at some point under the colorcoat where it will not affect the coats ontop of it? in other words once the chipping is done do I have to worry about more paint lifting later on when I am doing other weathering effects / washes on the model
Thanks,
Scott
