My favorite used to be Polly Scale Flat Finish from their Railroad line of paints.

Not sure if it is still produced or not though as I thought I heard they discontinued it.

I have used all kinds of flats. I like Tamiya flat base mixed with future...but my favorite is the Valeijo Model Air Flat. Never had an issue with it frosting and is easy to use.

Tamiya flat base is not something you use on its own.  You add it to a gloss to make it flat.  Better just to use a proper clear flat.

Flat finish

Would appreciate some feedback here

I normally do my airbrushing with Tamiya accrylics, then a coat of Alclad gloss ( as recommended byLHS) before applying decals

Most aircraft I do require a flat finishing coat but last time I used the Tamiya flat base for acrylics I landed up with a messy milky finish (this was before I was introduced to Alclad Gloss) and haven't used it since

Can someone recommend what has happened here & advise how this can be prevented. Also what is a suitable flat base to use after applying the Alclad gloss
