Future over Metalizer?
Posted by JailCop on Friday, April 13, 2012 10:17 AM

Title pretty much says it, can I spray Future over a coat of Metalizer, as a sealer?  I know Testors makes a Metalizer sealer, but Future is cheaper, and my LHS doesn't stock many Metalizer things.

I don't use Future (except for clear) but have used MM Metalizers several times and used the Metalizer Sealer with it.  Can't say it does a whole lot unless you REALLY coat it, you still get smudges.  I can't imagine there would be a problem using Future over MM Metalizers.  Have you ever used MM Gloss Coat yet?

Should be fine, and not a big deal unless you're after that super-clean-and-sleek look. For a war-battered, oxidizing bird, you'll want more of a semi-gloss/light sheen finish anyway, so no worries about an initial gloss coat of anything "ruining the look"

Thanks guys, the Future won't be the last coat.  I always seal my regular paint with Future before decaling, and just wanted to see if anyone knows of bad effects between the two.  I still plan to use a dull coat.

Reasoned:  I haven't used MM gloss coat, or any MM clear coats, but I will give them a try.  I usually just use testors Dullcoat, or regular Krylon dull clear.

I would recommend sticking with the sealer from Testors. I find that using  and sticking with a companies products eliminates problems that crop up.
