How 2 Use Tamiya Flat Base?
Posted by MonsterZero on Sunday, February 8, 2004 4:20 PM
Some of the small items that will go into my Soviet tank rider figures have glossy finish because of the paint used. I want to make them lusterless. Can I just paint the Tamiya flat base over the glossy finish? Won't the result look like the part has a white residue on it? Maybe I should thin the flat base first?

Probably not advisable.

Tamiya Flat Base is an additive to make their paints into a flat finish.

You might want to try adding it to some Future and using it as a dull cote.
I believe it's 30% Flat agent to 70% future.

I use it with Future, but only for spraying. You can try brushing a mixture of 30% Flat Base and 70% Future. If you spray too heavy it will leave a white residue.
