Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, February 8, 2004 4:58 PM
I'm starting my first project revell monogram F-14D I know my first project won't be perfect but I want to try my best. So I was wondering what steps do I take.

Read directions
Wash parts (with warm water and dish soap)
Air dry parts (read directions again)
Assemble, paint & weather interiors or anything that you can’t get to after major assembly.
Dip Canopy in Future – Let dry 48 hrs
Mask canopy (Attach now if closed. If open, wait until the end to attach)
Read directions again
Start major assembly (big parts. i.e. fuselage & wings)
Putty & sand any seams or defects in the assembly
Prime and paint small parts (landing gear, antennae, gun barrels, missiles etc.)
After major assembly is done, mask & prime major assembly
Sand seams, prime, check. Repeat as necessary.
Pre-shade panel lines
Base color coat (mask if necessary)
Clear coat of Future - Wait 48 hrs
Decal
Clear coat of Future - Wait 48 hrs
Somewhere before the end, you should think about attaching the small parts
Weather – wash panels lines, sludge wash etc.
Dull coat
Weather with pastels
Dull coat (optional)
Remove canopy mask
Enjoy

Every model is different, so you need to think strategically when working through any model. Sometimes you might have to work on certain things differently or in a different order because of the model’s design. I always think through the entire process, in my head, to make sure I’m doing it correctly.

Good luck and welcome to the hobby!
