Newbie using Future and liquid mask
Posted by Joe Williams on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 6:15 PM

I am about to start building the Kinetic S-2-F, I have already coated the clear parts with Future ( aka Pledge w / Future ) can I still use liquid mask over the future ? Hope I did not do the wrong thing on a company that cannot be reached via email for replacement parts. My ISP (AOL) won't let me send them e-mails as it thinks they are a phishing site.....hmmmm.....

I have certainly appreciated the responses I have received from my lame questions so far !

Great folks in here.

Joe,

If you let the Future cure for several days (at least), I don't think you will have any problems using liquid masking on them.

Joe, white glue mixed with a couple of drops of water and a single drop of liquid dish soap makes a perfect liquid mask as well.  It won't hurt the Future either.

Future is great stuff.  It'll also keep your canopies from getting frosted up if you decide to use Super Glue to attach them.  Without the Future coating, Super Glue will frost up the clear plastic quite badly.

Thanks!!  I did let it cure...now I am scared to death to try to use the liquid mask..should I install the clear pieces first onto the fuselage and THEN use the mask , peel away the sections and spray ? ( no I am not good enough yet to use an airbrush, which also makes it impossible for me to do the proper paint using the white belly) anyway, should I do that  ? Or should I do the masking and painting separately off the fuselage for some reason ? I am scared to use this for the first time on such an expensive kit......

Thanks!!!

Joe
