Primiers similar to Mr. Surfacer
Posted by ozzman on Friday, July 27, 2012 1:03 PM

Are there any other primers out there that have similar gap-filling properties to Mr. Surfacer, especially the 500?

Tamiya Fine Surface Primer seems to be similar.  I have had good results with it.

Gimme a pigfoot, and a bottle of beer...

Tamiya has a "Liquid Surface Primer" in 40ml jars (actually two, it comes in white or grey). It's similar to Mr Surfacer but can be cleaned up more easily as it's fully soluble in ethyl (denatured) alcohol. In a pinch it can also be thinned with ethyl alcohol for airbrushing.

However, it's a little softer than Mr Surfacer when dry.
