Can anyone point me to a tutorial on how to do grey scale painting?
I've tried on my own but the figures end up looking like zebras or escaped convicts!!
Do you mean graying and the paint to simulate distance? I only do this on small scale ships. While the atmosphere does lighten and reduce the saturation on colors, it does this quite gradually with distance. I never use this effect unless the scale distance of something is 500 to 1000 feet, and the only type of model this applies to for me is ships of 1:700 ships, or maybe as an extreme, 1:350 ships. With these small scale ships (most of which are some gray color anyway) I may on colored area lighten the paint with a bit of flat white or light gray.

Thanks for yout reply Don.
I'm talking more along the line of painting figures to give them that look of old black and white movies.
It looks really awesome when done right. I just cant get that "look" quite right, hence the zebra look.
