Wash Questions
Posted by morto on Monday, July 30, 2012 9:48 AM

Just finished a B-17.  Painted with acrylics and have sprayed with Future and have applied decals.  Want to use an oil paint wash.  Have several questions.

        1.  What be the best thinner to use?

        2.  Should I add a small amount of dish detergent to the mixture as I would if the wash were acrylic?

       3.  Once the wash is applied and let dry, what would be the best product to use to moisten a Q-tip to wipe away the excess.

Would appreciate any answers and/or suggestions.

Thanks......Morto

Over Acryllics I use mineral spirits to cut my artists oils with.  No need to add dish soap to the mixture.  Just the oil and the mineral spirits are all you should need. to remove I use a cotton cloth, but if it's in hard to reach areas a q-tip dampened (Read: not soaked) in mineral spirits does the trick.
