Question About An Iwata HP-CS
Posted by WutDaFunk on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 1:37 PM

So, if you've seen my Sparmax post, you'll remember me saying I'll be getting an HP-CS.

After some research, I'm wondering if the CS comes with a Teflon O-ring. Many people say they do, and many say they do not. Are there any CS users who can confirm?

I'll be using enamels most of the time, which is why I'm a little worried.

I have a CS and it has a Teflon needle seal, if that's what you are talking about.  You can see it on this page.  I believe this change was made some time ago.  I know you can get upgrades for older brushes.

There is a Viton O-ring between the head and body, but that shouldn't be a problem.  And, there are two in the trigger/air valve assembly.

Very nice review! The needle packing is just another name for the needle seal, correct?

Same thing.  Badger calls theirs a needle bearing.

Okay, thank you, Don! Can anybody else confirm as well? I just want to be absolutely sure new CS's come with a Teflon needle bearing/seal/packing already installed.

I just went on Iwata's website and realized part #13 is the PTFE (Teflon) Needle Packing Set, and it's a standard part now. I can't believe I didn't see this before, I guess it was because I was looking for the word Teflon instead of PTFE.

Now I just hope the CS's I saw at my local Hobby Lobby are the newer ones that come with the Teflon seal already installed.
