Russian cockpit colors post ww2
Posted by Khalee2 on Friday, September 28, 2012 1:24 PM

Just got my yak 25 and Sukhoi 11 and i am wondering would they be painted in blue or should I go with the instructions that show two shades of grey. Just wanting to get it right.

Most likely the gray is correct. The Blue Green color was more of a 60s/70s (Mig-21 thru Mig-27) era shade. Stuff before and after then tended be in various grays from what I have been able to find on image searches of various Soviet Cockpits.

Russian cockpit colors, lol.   If you follow Trumpeter's color call-outs, the Russians used more shades of grey than did the USN...

Best bet is to find some color reference pics, or failing that give it a Scientific Wild-A** Guess as to what looks appropriate.  (this is my personal methodology)

It's neither of those mentioned, but here's an unrestored MiG-15 cockpit from the War Eagles museum outside of El Paso:

On the Bench: 1/32 Trumpeter P-47 | 1/32 Hasegawa Bf 109G | 1/144 Eduard MiG-21MF x2

On Deck:  1/350 HMS Dreadnought
