Some basic questions
Posted by John.michael on Saturday, October 6, 2012 9:26 PM

Ok, I am a newbie and I have some realy basic questions and I am hoping I can get some advice.

1-  what are the effects obtained by increasing or decreasing compressor pressure? When should I aim at lowering as much as possible or increasing as much as possible?

2 - what should I use and what rations if I intend to use MR Primer Surfacer 1200 as primer?

3 - can I use Mr Surfacer (note, not Mr PRIMER Surfacer as Primer?

4 - why use, say, Humbrol Primer instead of Mr Primer Surfacer1200 ( or vice versa)

5- should I aim at higher or lower preassures when priming?

6 - for those eventually acquainted with aztec 470, which nozzle should I use when priming with Mr Primer Surfacer and Humbrol Enamel ( if diferent for any reason)?

Sorry for the bombardment of questions, but I am having some difficulty sorting all information that I find.

Thanx in advance to all

Increasing pressure makes the paint go on dryer and you generally can spray from a greater distance, but this leads to roughness and possible orange peel.  For glossy finishes go low pressure and spray close to surface.

I use Krylon spray can primer so can't comment on the primer questions.
