Being quiet is a nice feature for me since I live in an apartment. Does anyone know how the D3000r (or any other tanked compressor) compares to the DA400r or the TC-2000?

The D3000R is a much lower powered compressor. Half the airflow at half the pressure. It is NOT in the same class as the D400R or the TC-2000.

Does the DA400R come with everything the TC-2000 comes with (hose adapters and coiled hose)?

Should I replace anything on the DA400R if I do decide to buy it, like regulators or gauges?

An important requirement is how quiet you want it to be.  If you want it really quiet, you'll need one designed for airbrushing. If that is not a big thing, then small utility/portable compressors will work fine for airbrushing and are pretty cheap.

I am a happy owner of the Paasche DA400 since 2008. The twin piston motor is powerful enough for 2 airbrushes and you will not need an airtank to get steady flow. I have no plan to change my compressor anytime soon.

If I were to get a compressor today, I will go with the TC-2000. Known manufacturer and excellent quality control record. For the mean time, Paasche has changed DA400 supplier twice since 2008. It is not necessarily bad, just an unknown factor.

Hi,

Lots and lots to choose from and the Paasche DA400r is likely a good one but if you really want the Sparmax TC2000 you can get it HERE  for $199 including shipping. I've ordered from Dixie Art and have always had great service.

I was previously looking at the Sparmax TC-2000. My budget has changed so I would like a recommendation on a different compressor that's just as good or almost as good as the TC-2000. I can get the TC-2000 for around $225 (tax included) but I'm just a beginner right now so I'd like a cheaper option.

I'll be using an  Iwata HP-CS and I'll be spraying enamels (mostly) and acrylics sometimes.

I am looking at the Paasche DA400r at the moment, which seems like a close clone to the TC-2000 but it's cheaper ($165 at chicagoairbrush)

I've heard about the TC-20T, but I saw mixed reviews about it, and I don't want to take a gamble.
