IWATA HP-CS Eclipse AIRBRUSH Kit
Posted by kenposan on Thursday, November 8, 2012 11:00 AM

Hi all,

I'm returning to modeling after about 20 years. I do mostly military stuff (armor, aircraft) but will build whatever suits my fancy at the moment.

Anyway, I've always wanted an airbrush for doing camo, painting figures, and what not. I've read through a ton of posts here and elsewhere and people seem to like the Iwata HP CS. I stumbled across this on Amazon and wanted to get some folks input on whether this would be a good deal.

Thanks!

The compressor is the TCPGlobal house brand TC-20T. You can usually get their offer cheaper on Ebay where they usually offer free shipping. They have a lot of Ebay listings. Shop carefully.

There is no reason to pay extra for the Createx Paint, mixing sticks etc. unless you need them.

Ditto

If you were to purchase the airbrush, compressor, hose & cleaning station separately from TCP & give the Createx paint a miss (assuming that you will be using modelling paints?) you would save $30>$40 that you could spend on better suited paint.......

Thanks for the link. I don't need the paint so that looks like a better deal. Guess I'll have to fire up ebay tonight and do some searching.

thanks again!

HP-CS is an awesome but it lacks in large coverage. it's fine for smaller scale but a pain for larger scale.

look into the HP-CR "revolution CR"

great for coverage and with practice, you can knock out fine detail. don't be fooled by these needle sizes.

you can find a combo kit for a lot cheaper.

tamiya 1/48 P-47D $25 + shipping

tamiya 1/48 mosquito $20+ shipping

hobby boss 1/48 F-105G. wings and fuselage cut from sprue. $40+ shipping.

this raises another question. I assume I can get other needles for this AB, right?

Over & above the standard 0.35mm set-up, you can go to 0.5mm with;

6171 Needle,
6041 Nozzle,
6021 Nozzle cap.
