Dullcote went bad

I think you just got it on too heavy.  The thinners in Dullcote are pretty hot and I think they need to flash off before they have time to do much damage.  I spray Dullcote over Future with an airbrush.  I thin it about 50:50 with lacquer thinner and mist it on in light coats.  It dries in seconds.  A spray can would be harder to control.

like don said, it most likely attacked it. the trick is to first apply a thin coat then let it dry then give it a final coat. never spray till it's got the wet look.

You can't apply dullcoat until it looks wet.  You have to keep misting on coats. The last one can be slightly heavier but the first had better be lightly applied and then allowed to dry and flash out.

The clue to me is "It was raining outside....." - Dullcoat (much like the dopes used on 1 to 1 ragwing aircraft) tends to soak up moisture out of the air as it is applied (it's called blushing on the a/c and has been known to cause grown men cry in frustration) and about the only way to fix it is to strip it and re-apply it on a day the humidity is lower.
