KRYLON PLASTIC PRIMER
Posted by DOUG78 on Thursday, November 29, 2012 11:20 PM

Has anyone used this? Discovered it at Hobby Lobby, and for $3 (with 40% Coupon) thought I'd give it a try.  What attracted me was the banner PLASTIC PRIMER, and sub-head  "Promotes Adhesion on Plastic Surfaces."  It apparently comes in white only. I tried it recently and the results seemed OK. Is it compatable with acrylics, enamels, and  Is it as good  as some of the other Krylons, auto primers and other less expensive types. Thanks for any comments.  DOUG78

hi doug

i have not used this but use a lot on ace hardware NOW gray. it will get powdery towards the end of the can and will leave a gray dusting onthe table so best to paint with it in the garage or away from general model area. i have painted over it with tamiya acrylic, polyscale, MMA and coptic alcohol pens. best to use a new can for ships and planes but whole can is good for armor.

I have used it, but not extensively.  I ordinarily just use the plain "primer," a medium gray.  The plain primer is very full bodied (lots of solids) so it fills scratches and other flaws well. I have used it with acrylics, lacquers, and enamels and it works fine with all.

I've used it and found it a bit powdery too. I've since tried some of their camoflage paint (dead-flat, dries quickly & super-smooth) with good results (using flat black on the underside of a car kit), plan on trying it as a primer on... something.
