Paasche D500SR air compressor
Posted by Brownie on Thursday, January 3, 2013 4:36 PM

The compressor is supposed to come on only when you press the air brush trigger, but my compressor stays on constantly.

Any suggestions as to why and any solutions?

Thanks a lot.

An air leak in hose, fittings, or somewhere else can cause this.  Does the compressor have a pressure gauge, and if so, what is the pressure when it is running?

How old is your DA500SR? Does it have a 2 or 3 position power switch? If the power switch is 3 positions, one is for constantly on! Some later Paasche compressor has the 3 position power switch.

I have checked the best i can for leaks, and found none.  There is a pressure gage and it stays pretty constant at 20 psi which is what I have it set on.

It is not unusual for "made-in-China" small compressor to fail in a few months. The problem could be a failed pressure sensor for auto-on-off to failed piston ring. Because it worked for 6 months and there is no external leak, the only conclusion is pre-mature death of hardware.

I had an one-year warranty on my Paasche DA400 compressor purchased in 2008. I hope yours has the same period of warranty.

Contact Paasche customer service for repair ASAP.
