John,

I don't particularly like those diaphragm compressors as they pulsate the airflow because of their design.
For $40 cheaper than the price of that Cyclone II you could buy a Silentaire Scorpion II which I think is a better unit, although I am no expert on either one.
Another one in that price range that is supposed to be good is the Createx (Sim Air) Intruder 2000. Both are available from Dixie Art if you want to look at them.

QUOTE: I'm looking for an air compressor to go with my new airbrush. I don't have it.....yet....but I'll need it anyway. I'm looking for something not to expensive but efficient with a max running pressure approx 30 psi. I don't need a compressor with an air rugulator, filter, gauge on it. I'll buy it separately. Is the Badger Cyclone II model 180 -II a good one ???.....Wich one do you use ?

I'm not really up on the airbrush compressors, so I'll leave that to the guys that are. There are alternatives though; air tanks specifically. Depending on how sensitive you are to noise a general purpose compressor would work just fine, but they are frequently LOUD!

What kind of paint do you plan to spray? If you are spraying enamel or laquer then a spray booth is almost essential because of the fumes. Acrylics are a different story and are much easier on the nose and internal systems
Cool [8D] If you have a dedicated space for painting, you might (emphasis on "Might") be able to get by with just a respirator mask. Keep in mind that every chemical we use, paint, glue, putty, everything, says to use only in a well ventilated area. There are reasons for that!

I airbrush at pretty low pressures so overspray is not much of a problem. I also use acrylic paint and spray everything in the basement. I don't have a spray booth and have never had any problems. I have a window right by my workbench and usually open it and turn on a big window fan. The safe route is to use a spray booth, and yes you can certainly build one yourself, but as to being essential, that depends on your circumstances and what you plan to do.

Hi everyone

I'm looking for an air compressor to go with my new airbrush. I don't have it.....yet....but I'll need it anyway. I'm looking for something not to expensive but efficient with a max running pressure approx 30 psi. I don't need a compressor with an air rugulator, filter, gauge on it. I'll buy it separately. Oh....by the way ( I almost forgot) what about a spray booth. Is it essential ?? Can I built it myself ??

Thank in advance..... I really apreciate.

John
