mrazz Hi, Is the Paasche D500 compressor worth purchasing? I have never owned an airbrush compressor and wonder if this model would be a wise purchase. Thanks for the input. Mark

I am a Paasche compressor user, but not the D500 model.
The D500 is spec at 0.5 CFM at 20 psi. A little on the low end of necessary flow rate and pressure, but should be useful for most airbrushes and paints in modeling.
I have good confidence on the Paasche customer service and warranty.
If your budget allows, take a look at the DA400 model. For the additional cost of a good 48th scale aircraft kit, you get a much more powerful compressor. It means more steady flow at higher pressure if you ever need it. And potentially longer use life. I have used one since 2008. I have had zero complaint.
The DA400 is the only Paasche compressor sourced from Taiwan. Others are made in China. Yes, the place of origin makes a difference in quality and durability.
Thanks for the information. I actually have a Badger air regulator/moisture trap, so I am all set there. My compressor w/ tank is starting to wear out. Looking at all the options avaliable.
Thanks
Hi Mark,
I don't have that particular compressor but think it could be quite useful for airbrushing. It is similar to the many available single piston compressors from many suppliers. I do have the similar HF one and it has worked fine for me though I now use a compressor with a tank. I would suggest that you look at the D500SR which comes with a moisture trap/regulator. You would want to add a regulator to the D500 so why not get it with the compressor. Just my thoughts.
