Master TC-20t or Sparmax TC 2000
Posted by Dan the Man on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 4:28 PM

I've been out of the modeling gig now for about 18 months.  Last months issue about airbrush basics got me in the mood again.  That, and I finally cleaned off the modeling table so I can see the surface again.

I currently have a pretty well used Campbell Hausfeld 1 gal 110 psi electric air compressor that was effective, but loud and I think it is pretty well done.  OK, for the final word, someone please state which is the best value - Master TC 20t or Sparmax TC2000? As far as cost, I'd be applying the HL 40% off for the Sparmax.

Thanks for your help.

Completed: Confederate Squadron F6F Hellcat

On the Bench: Monogram TBD Devastator

On Deck: Likely a piece of German Armor.

Dan,

I personally like a compressor with tank but the Sparmax gets lots of very good reviews and is a good compressor for sure (I have the TC620X). Just a thought though, have a look here for the SPARMAX -better price than HL, free shipping and no coupon needed if you decide to go that way.  Friend of mine has the TC2000 and really likes it. I think the Sparmax is the best value. I've bought from Dixie Art quite a few times and all have been hassle free. No personal interest in Dixie but a satisfied customer.

A well made compressor (motor and pistons etc.) is much more important than a airtank. And the Sparmax is a much better made compressor than the Chinese made TC-20.

The Sparmax is more expensive, but a much better value in use and in the long run.
