Pledge Future polish Down Under
Posted by Maxx02 on Friday, February 15, 2013 9:31 PM

I saw some 2009 threads about trying to find Pledge Future in Australia.   It didn't look good at that time.   Has this supply problem improved?   As yet I cannot find it anywhere in South Australia.

Hi Maxx02,

I know Aaron is up with the whole Pledge Future thing in Australia. He mentioned something about it last week. I'll PM him with the link to this thread and have him come over to divulge what he knows.

Tim

S.C. Johnson used to sell Future in Australia as Shine Magic, but it appears to have discontinued the product. I understand that Pascoes Long Life work similarly, but may be ammonia-based, so may react with acrylic paint. Test it first.

Until recently, the nearest off the shelf product available in Australia was Pledge One Go, which was similar to Future but this also contained cleaning agents and was a brownish colour. This has been discontinued.

Pascoes Long Life, as mentioned above by Aaron, is a milky white liquid and also contains cleaning agents, and is indeed unfriendly to acrylic paints if applied heavily.

Two other products which I have heard of, but not tried are described as acrylic floor finishes.

These are:

Gemini Floor Sealer Finish (Peerless Jal)

Floorshine (Feast Watson)

Last time I checked both of these products were available at Bunnings.

Thanks Phil, I'm off to Bunnings on a quest.   Love the Combat Wombat by the way.

Amazon of course!   I would never have thought of mail order from Amazon.   I wonder if Aussie federal authorities would be wondering why I order floor polish all the way from USA.   Might end up with a SWAT team coming through my window.   Worth a chance.   Thanks BlackJack.

I can see it now       .

Seriously if your local products don't pan out, maybe the Amazion thing would be good if you could get some mates together to go in with you to help defray the purching and shipping costs
