Hi Splitter24,

Your AB should be able to spray continuously until the cup is empty so something is amiss. If it sprays at 30PSI, I doubt lowering the pressure will help though you'll probably want to use lower pressure when actually painting. If you can spray paint satisfactorily, but only for 5 seconds, is your needle chuck tight so that the needle can't be slipping? Only thing I can think of for the symptoms you describe.

Yes. The air continues to flow even after the paint stops. I didn't try to replicate it with just water or thinner. I'll try that. Being a complete novice with the brush, I never adjusted the pressure on the regulator on the Iwata compressor which was preset at 30psi. Maybe I'll experiment by lowering the pressure from there to see if that makes a difference. Thanks for the response!

Does the air continue to flow after the paint stopped?

What happens if you keep pushing down on the trigger for another 5 seconds after the paint stopped?

Did the same thing happens if you replace the paint with thinner or water?

30 PSI seems very high to me for the Iwata HP-C Plus airbrush. Any reason for this high pressure?

Airbrush newbie here...

So I got some practice time this weekend with my new Iwata HP-C Plus brush. I mixed some Model Master enamel paint with Testors Enamel Thinner to the consistency of (allegedly) 2% milk as popular convention goes. I was spraying away, testing different patterns, distances, pressures etc. Everything was great except for one thing I couldn't figure out. If I tried to spray continuously for more than 5 seconds, the paint would stop coming out. Should that be happening? My compressor was set at and maintaining 30psi throughout. So shouldn't paint theoretically keep on coming out until the cup is essentially empty?
