I like modelmater clear Enamel or Vallejo Gloss Acrylic Varnish,depending what i'm going to weather with.

Thinned about 30% or 40% with this:

Airbrush at 16-20 psi and hold the airbrush a little farther way than normal so you can apply a heavier coat, just before it starts to run. 1 coat should be enough. Let dry 1-2 days. I find it airbrushes much better than other acrylic brands.

I have my phantom painted and need it to be gloss coat for decals, in the past I have used testors shaker can gloss coat, no big deal but I have MODEL MASTER GLOSS CLEAR ACRYL 4638 for my airbrush. I've used the model masters and while I do get a gloss finish its not very smooth for decal application. Whats the best brand/method to getting a gloss finish so I can apply decals to a nice and smooth finish? Should I be thinning the model masters?
