I would not spray metalizer directly on to plastic unless it has been throughly cleaned.  I actually prefer to make sure you have a good coat of primer sealer sprayed down first.  FWIW my process is:

1) Clean model to get rid of any oil or mold relelase

2) Light coat of Mr. Surfacer 1200

3) Spray Metalizer

4) Spray Metalizer Sealer

IF you need to do any masking or further paint work its ready to go, if you need to apply more metalizers repeat steps 3 and 4 as needed.

I used that process on here and the masks I used were very agressive and I had no issues with paint lifting.

Good Luck!

The buffing metalizer is cool stuff. However, it is very picky. Wear gloves as to not leave finger prints as they are created quite easily with the metalizer. Also, when sealing it, I prefer to just use the metalizer sealer. Future, Testors clear coat/dull-coat have all left spotty finishes on my models Not sure if you were going to use the buffing metalizer but thought I'd drop my 2 cents.

Thanks for the complete explanation. About mask off metalizer, I wonder if Parafilm would work over it. I'll try and then tell them.

Metalizer should be sprayed onto bare plastic. It's a very fragile paint in my experience, you can't mask over it with tape. The plastic underneath also needs to be polished out so scratches in the plastic won't show up in the paint.

Mask off and paint the other colors first, like the anti-glare panels, and nose/tail markings, then mask them off and paint the Metalizer. If you used the "buffable" Metalizer, you can buff to a shine when the paint dries.

Testors makes a sealer for the Metalizer to improve the durability, but it's not necessary if you're really careful about handling it (cotton gloves work well). You won't have any difficulties in applying decals either way.

Don't let me scare you away from it, it looks good when applied, just give it some TLC. You may want to practice with it on an old kit in order to get used to how it works.

Good night, I'll build a mustang p51 d in bare metal scheme, I plan use testor enamel and testor metalizer to improve finish, but is the first time that I build anything in bare metal. What is the better way to use testor Metalizer?  I must mix with the paint, o apply after all, like Testor dullcote?

thanks for your attention and regards from Lima-Peru
