Looking through some stock, it looks like it's a date based production batch numbering system, most likely starting at AA and running through to ZZ, although it possible it's more complicated than that............

I got mine from Hobby Lobby 4 years ago. It has IWATA ECLIPSE HP-CS JAPAN HD on it. I have no idea what all these 2 letters mean, but will be very interested in finding out.

Another Question on Iwata HP-CS

I noticed the words on the body of the airbrush that says IWATA ECLIPSE HP-CS JAPAN, but different brushes that I've seen while watching/reading reviews have two letters after the JAPAN, like MB, HL, or LE. Does anybody know why the letters are different and what they mean?
