If you have space invest in a display case, they really keep the dust off and it gives you a chance to show them off without anyone handling them.

On any build, once you fix the pigments, you want to minimize handing and only touch in inconspicuous spots

Agreed, thats what I thought. Im the only one authorized at home to touch and move the model. So when my wife has to clean around I move it.

Also, Im thinking on investing on a big furniture with shelves, and doors with glass and LED display light in the interior for the perfect showcase.

Thanks for your advice.

Thanks, yes, Im trying to display them, away from direct sunlight.

I have to show my proud babies in places where everybody can see them. For now, Im leaving them over the chimeney in the family room.

As long as you keep it out of the weather you don't really need to protect most paints on a finished model.  The hobby industry has done a good job on stability of model paints in recent years.  White used to be an exception- some whites turned yellow after awhile. I have not had this problem with white paint in a long time, though.

One reason you may want to protect it is dust removal.  Depending on how you remove dust from an older model you MAY find some degradation to paint, but I have dusted some of my really old models that were not overcoated without damage. But if you have to use strong detergents to remove dust and grime these can damage some paints.

Too much direct sunlight can bleach paint, but unfortunately clear coats don't do that much to protect against that.  Keep finished models out of direct sunlight.

All you can do is spray a flat coat but you risk fading the pigments.

How to protect the model?

HI everybody,

So, I have finished my tank. Now, how do I protect it?.

What should I use as a protective coat?, it has pigments so I do no want to dilute them, or wash them away.

The tank is paninted and german grey with acrylicys. I do not want to give it a shiny fnish, so a gloss or wet look will not suit it.

Thanks!!
