Can anyone suggest a good airbrush compressor to purchase? My old "Lowes pancake compressor" is starting to malfunction. I think I want to buy a dedicated airbrush compressor for my setup this time around. Any information will be helpful.
Thanks, Mark
Mark,
I have, use and like the Sparmax TC620X which I got from DIXIE ART - best price I could find and free shipping. I also have a Badger TC910 Aspire which has worked well for me but others here have reported problems. The TC-20T from TCP Global is a less expensive alternative which a number of users here have reported as quite nice. There are many available and I'm sure one which will fit your needs/budget.
To me the big advantage of an airbrush compressor rather than a general purpose compressor is quietness. But you do pay for that quietness. The airbrush compressors don't really work any better than the GP ones I had, but I sure do value the premium I paid for that quietness. However, some of the brands price that quietness quite high!

I use Revell's "Masterclass Compressor" and never had any problems with it...
Hello!
Some time ago I wrote a post about a compressor I built myself - best value for money there is, so maybe it helps. If you use hardware from your old compressor, it will drive the cost down even further:

You can get the Sparmax TC-2000 at Hobby Lobby using the 40% off coupon any time, which knocks the price down to a quite reasonable level. I did that and I love the thing.

Unfortunately, it is marketed in Europe and in 220 volts only. The closest in feature and price in the US is the Sparmax TC-620.
Oops, didn't know that! I thought they would sell their compressors overseas as well. Some of the Sparmax compressors are similar to it anyway. My LHS had 2 Sparmax compressors for sale a while ago and they were exactly the same, just looking different. Maybe this one is also available in the US (I don't know the model number though)
Cheers, Clemens
