I use enamels, so not sure how well it works on acrylics, but the guy who suggested the Purple Power  to me uses more acrylic than enamel, so I assume it will work on them too.

I've found that Nalgene jars & bottles withstand lacquer thinner. In fact, according to a professional painter, many painters swear by Nalgene.

I believe Nalgene is simply a trademark, currently used for containers made of HDPE, LDPE and/or other copolymers (and stainless steel). Originally it was a trademark for Polycarbonate plastic containers made by Nalge Co but Nalge changed their formulations to eliminate the claimed harmful bisphenol A after criticism (study) of possible leeching of BPA from the plastic.  Lots of press about this and baby bottles and other drink containers several years ago. Not sure if polycarbonate containers that cannot be used or consumables are still available.

PS I think Don meant 'Simple Green' cleaner as the green stuff.

@Don

Do you mean Purple Power Supremo? Can you use it to clean a mess created by acrylic paints? What is that green stuff?

I use a Badger siphon feed brush, and the bottle sets are glass but they have a plastic top. I find that I cannot let lacquer thinner get in contact with the tops, because it eats the threads!  So, if I have to use lacquer thinner for cleaning I have to make sure the caps are no where near where I am cleaning.  The bottles themselves are immune to the thinner, of course.  BTW, I find some of those new cleansers are so strong I do not have to use lacquer thinner very often anymore- things like Purple Power and that green stuff.

Chrisk-k,

I've usually bought the polyethylene ones and find them OK for storing paints. However, within the last year or so I've used only craft or model acrylics and can say that acetone and lacquer thinner used for cleaning bottles works fine as does Windex, Purple Power or Super Clean - all without any harm to the bottles that I can  detect . I've use their 1/2 and 1 ounce size with dropper closures and lids - great for mixing and for putting just a few drops of pain the AB.

SKS definitely has a bigger assortment than Amazon. So many to choose from. Are all the jars chemically resistant?

I've bought chemically resistant bottles from SKS Lab Supplies and been happy with service and products. Lots to choose from.

Does anyone know where I can buy chemically resistant small bottles/jars? I'd like to store my paint mixes and be able to clean them with a lacquer thinner later.
