my first reaction was the same as jennifer lawrence when she stumbled up the steps to accept her oscar. walked away, worked on something else, came back and decided it really is a cool effect. sorta a reverse hairspray. certainly worth exploring as a technique for something.

Wow wayne, that was some reaction. I have to admit that it did create a pretty unique effect though.

ok the gray and the black are MMA.

After dullcoat incident different lighting i didn't paint any blue.

That sucks.  I use Testors Dullcote over Tamiya acrylics all the time and not had a problem yet.

I had a strange reaction when i used Testors over MM enamel. I had to strip it back and start again so sorry to say I just don't trust it any more

Thats strange, I use the stuff below exclusively on top of Tamiya, MM, Vallejo, and Eagle Colors acrylics and have never seen any adverse reaction to the paints.

Testors Dullcote is a lacquer based product.

Lacquer should not be applied over acrylic and should be tested before applying over enamels.

OOPS. i did this to my police BRDM-2 and the blue ran like crazy. fortuantely it was an AFV and not a plane or ship and i was able to recover and did my first oil paint pin wash and filtering BUT DON"T DO IT.
