Easy Off on putty?
Posted by minimagneto on Friday, October 4, 2013 4:59 PM

It is fairly common knowledge that Easy-Off! over cleaner is good choice for removing paint/plating from models because while it easily removes the paint, it does not damage the styrene.

What I am wondering is if anyone here has tried the product on a model with a fair amount of filler putty on it.

Do common model fillers share styrene's immunity to Easy-Off, or does the filler get eaten away with the paint?

hmmm...first time I've ever asked a question to the forum without getting an answer.

maybe I've phrased it funny...or maybe no one reading has actually encountered this 'problem'. Or both.

Perhaps I shall find out the 'hard way' on a test piece...then report the results here :)

cheers,

Test pieces are a really good idea. I test out chemicals and even paint compatibility frequently.  Styrene is cheap.

Yes it does. Putties I tried were Humbrol, Testors. No match for over cleaner!
