GERMAN PRIMER RED
Posted by Capt'n Jon on Saturday, October 26, 2013 11:09 AM

About a year ago there was an article on an unpainted FW-190.  The model had some parts painted in German base-red.  I know that it's much more maroon than our red primer and would like to find out what paint was used or how to mix the color?  Thanks.

I have read that Tamiya Hull Red or Humbrol Brick Red are reasonable choices for this color.

If you can get a hold of the old Polly Scale railroad colors "Oxide red" - it's perfect.  If not, try Tamiya XF-9 Hull red (10ml or 23ml jar) or TS-33 Dull red (spray can) will work.

I have an old bottle of Polly s "Red Oxide" and I think you're right.  Thanks.
