I also wash resin, then prime with a good primer.  Both steps aid paint adhesion.

You must get all the oily residue by washing, and I usually use primer

Any paint will work. It is most important to prep the resin surface first by wiping it down with a mild solvent (such as Poly S Plastic Prep) before you go to paint. Most people will wash the resin parts before they start building the kit in warm soap and water. Using a primer is a good idea too.

Painting Resin Kits

Hi,

I've only worked in styrene, but have picked up a couple of resin warships for cheap.  I was wondering if there was a preferred type of paint (enamel or acrylic) and/or preferred line of paints for a good finish on resin.

I have also never used, nor do I own an airbrush.  I'm not sure if that affects the answer or not.

Thanks for any guidance!
