Temperature and paint

I use my homemade dry booth similar to Don's and dry painted models at around 100 F.  My hobby room is in my basement and I keep the basement temperature at 68 F in winter.  Spraying at 68 F is fine but it takes too long for a paint to cure at 68 F in my experience.

Most paints work well around so-called room temperature- 72F.

I built a drying box to speed up enamels, which take a long time to dry.  Too hot, however, and the plastic may warp or melt. I run my drying box at 105 F which definitely speeds up the drying, and has never hurt the plastic.  The box is a simple particle board box with a 60W light bulb in it, with some holes in the top.  On top of that box is one of those polyethylene storage containers turned upside down, with holes in the lid to match those in the top of the particle board chamber.  The lid is screwed to the particle board box.  Remove the storage chamber to place model or model part in it to dry.  Oh, and holes in bottom of storage box to get some air flow, with a filter laid over those holes to keep dust out.  I use those register filters designed to put in your hot air registers.
