If you really want to up your builds, you need an airbrush. Not just for painting, but for weathering too. There's no way around it if you ask me.

The FSM sites also makes some print and download versions of how to books on modeling

The best thing you can do is to read the forums.  Spend a couple of hours reading through the old threads in the Painting forums and you'll learn all kinds of techniques.  Then its just a matter of practice.

Ive built models on n off the last few yrs, n now that ive recently started again i need alotta help with painting n detailing. I used mainly spray paints for the larger kits n brushes for the smaller ones, but the ones i recently did look HORRIBLE compared to some of the completed kits ive seen online, n id really like to up my building abilities n id like to see my aircraft look more realistic.
