Thanks for asking that question-I was perplexed also. I found the Aqueous Hobby Color range very hard to find in the USA, so opted for some Mr. Hobby/Mr. Color paints.

I lucked out!  I am a Testors Model Master fan. I did a ggogle search on the colors in the Measure I want to use, and found two MM colors (20-B and 5-N) at the Testors site.  They are new, and the racks in the hobby shops I frequent are quite old, so I guess that is why I couldn't find them.  Found you can order paints online from Testors so I ordered a couple of bottles of each.

If you are not having much luck with the paint information, I sugget you ditch that line, go with the colors you are familiar with and a web information for painting USN WWII warships in general and USS San Francisco in particular. Most of the colors- Hull Red, Black, Deck Blue, or their equivalents, are not hard to come by. Whatever camo scheme she wore that you plan to depict is  fairly easy to find online, and colors from different companies will fill those requirements.

That is correct.  The number in the white box is for the Aqueous Hobby Color range and the number in the black box is for the Mr. Color range.  The AHC numbers all have an H in front of them and the Mr. Color paints have a C in front of them...H301 or C301 for example.

When they introduced the Mr. Color range they eliminated some of the colors and renumbered the paints.

Hr Hobby/Mr Color colors?

I am building the Trumpeter USS San Francisco and don't understand the color chart.  Above the color chart there are some Japanese characters on either side of the Mr. Hobby statement, and on the right it says Mr Color used.  Each color in the chart has a name- gold, navy, etc.  And a small rectangle with an H in front of it.  The rectangle is divided in half, the left have has a black number on a white background, the right half has white number on black background.  I assume the two numbers are the Mr. Hobby and the Mr Color numbers- right?  Which is which?  I am having a hard time finding a decent color conversion chart for either of these two brands.
