I use Tamiya Yellow tape for the actual masking at the color separation line.
Then I use Blue Painter's tape to tape card masks to the Yellow tape to cover the large areas, and for taping additional cards, if needed to get full coverage.
"card cover" masking is easy, just cut the card to match the center of the Yellow tape line (including curves), then mount Blue tape to the cards, letting about 1/16" stick out, stick that slender Blue line to your Yellow tape.
To remove the Blue tape and cards, and still allow the Yellow to be pulled off with the fold over method, just slice the Card Bump on the Blue tape,,,,,,then you can peel the Yellow back over itself like normal.
it is cheaper than using all Yellow tape for overall coverage
