That new Bader 105 airbrush is now not in the budget, what else is a little more affordable?

I was all set to buy a new Badger 105 Patriot airbrush when the front axle u joint started to lock up on my Dodge 1 ton dually. I'm now $750 poorer just in parts and having to do the labor myself. Ouch! So I've been trolling ebay looking for a deal on a decent gravity fed brush. My siphon brush is a pain to clean, and I think that keeps me from using it. I saw an Iwata Neo that's made in china with their name on it, but spare parts may be iffy. And I see a bunch of Master brand bush kits for cheap. Both are less than $50, and I may just be able to get away with it.

The Patriot is just $80 at Dixie Art, and that includes shipping.  That's just $25 more than they are selling the Neo CN for.  The Patriot is easier to clean and tougher than the Neo or the Masters.

If your siphon airbrush takes too long to clean, maybe you are working too hard.

Hey!

I feel for you with the auto bills, huge deductible on fender bender in January for me!

I have a second 105 patriot in a drawer. Contact me on a private message and make me an offer. I live in Illinois. I hate to see you do without as it is a great airbrush. Maybe trade a kit or two of your for it if you want instead of cash. let me know! Hope it helps.

Dont waste money on a cruddy a/b. 66 may be your guy. Also theres a number of specials on the 105 that get it down to 70-80.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

You will end up with wasting more money if you go for Master.  As for parts, if Hobby Lobby is near you, Iwata parts can be bought very conveniently and very cheaply.

Thanks guys. I was planning on running down to Michaels art mart with my 40% off coupon, but they don't stock the 105. Then the parts bill keeps growing!

If no one else bids, you can get an Iwata HP-CS for less than $70!

Badger has a clearance or "garage sale" page on their website where they will sell airbrushes with cosmetic defects at HIGHLY discounted prices. Maybe you can find something you like there?

  badgerairbrush.com/Garage_Sale.asp

I have a feeling they haven't updated their website in quite a while, so you may want to call first to verify those airbrushes and prices are still available. Also, I've had terrible luck getting them to communicate with me when I sent my brush in for service, so be aware they may be hard as hell to get hold of.

Another option I'll throw out there are the cheapy airbrushes you can get at Harbor Freight tools. These are single action, siphon feed external mix brushes. While my Badger was in for service, I picked one of these up to get me by -- it was $15.00. It actually impressed me very much considering the price and the fact it's a cheapy Made In China rig. The only down sides I saw to it was that it consumes a huge volume of air compared to my Badger (I run off a compressed air tank) and the seals inside will not tolerate the hotter paints such as those that are lacquer based. I used Model Master Acryls in mine with no issues. Overall though, for the price I was very impressed with this brush and have knocked out three models so far just using this brush alone.

anyway, those are my thoughts. Hope this helps.
