White Paint

I've been seeing this issue as well, though I'm a brush painter.  I have numerous different brands of white because I thought it might be the brand.

Then I thought it was me.

I find flat white covers better than gloss.

Agree with yellow and would add red and orange.

I also find these colors take much longer to dry than other colors.

try tamiyas  TS-26 spray can over tamiya  (or gunze) white primer. best white i have used

I use MM enamels both flat and gloss, and even Testors in the small bottle. The best method is to apply thin multiple coats. not a couple of heavy ones which will cause runs. The Tamiya white primer in the can is great too as a light mist to provide tooth.

Flat white is usually not much of a problem.  Gloss white is a lot harder, though not as bad as gloss yellow- that can be a real pain.  As someone said above, a white primer helps for either flat or gloss white.

I use airbrush.  The gradual build up with misting coats sounds promising.  Will try it.  Thanks

Any time that I am using white, any brand, acrylic or enamel, I like to do a rough misted flat white primer coat first. Then a few heavier coats after the primer coat has dried. If I want a more vivid white, I will top it off with a gloss coat. If the needs to be flat in the end, a final clear flat coat will handle that.

Never had problems with Tamiya or Gunze. Works best over a gray primer though.

Are you talking airbrushing or hand brushing.I always airbrush Modelmaster Enamel Flat White,just thin as I would any other color,I build it up gradually with light misting coats.It usually works pretty good.If I need gloss,I will overspray with a clear coat.
