                        I read that the camouflage on a WWII Spitfire has hard edges. Is it the same for a WWII Lancaster camouflage or are they soft edges?

                        I am not sure I would describe it as a hard edge, certainly not the same as German splinter camo. But ye, the Lanc was pretty much the same.

                        Is it correct that the British used reusable rubber mats to paint the camouflage?  I have read that assertion several times but not sure if it's been confirmed.

                        Can't speak for the Lanc, but for the Spitfire the answer is yes and no.  Period photos shows examples of both hard and soft edges, so best consult photos of the specific aircraft you are portraying.
