Winsor & Newton Acrylic Varnish Is Awesome
Posted by Chrisk-k on Thursday, May 8, 2014 12:45 PM

Winsor & Newton Galeria Acrylic Varnish has become my favorite.  It performs better than any other acrylic matt varnishes I've used such as Vallejo, MM and Tamiya.  It sprays very well right out of the bottle with psi @ 15-20, dries quick and dead flat.   Water or Windex cleans it easily.   Even after a junk kit was saturated with the W&N varnish, no white spots appeared at all.   A 75 ml  bottle sells for around $5.

Sweet news Chrisk. I saw on Youtube that the guy on Genesis Models recommended this stuff. He thinned it with Xtracrylic thinners. You say its great without thinner?

I didn't thin it because I was shooting through a 0.5 mm nozzle as a test.  I further tested with distilled water as a thinner (2 parts Galeria and 1 part water).  My HP-CS w/ a 0.35 mm nozzle sprayed the mix beautifully and the result looked fantastic on a junk kit.

Very interested to hear this, Chris. I am still having fits with flatcoats.

Did you find this at HobbyLobby by any chance? If not, where did you get yours?

Thank you very much to the heads-up. If avail at HobbyLobby, can't wait to get home to get some. Oh wait, that'll be Sunday and they are closed!
