Paint Question-WWI Bi-Plane build
Posted by Blackbelt2 on Monday, May 12, 2014 12:47 PM

I am attempting my first WWI bi-plane and I have question. I used Testors wood, enamel, as a base coat for my wood grain and added oil base raw umber for the grain. I did not put a gloss coat over this nor did I cover it with clear orange or yellow. I am now going to go over the model with humbrol Matte scarlet for the Von Richtofen scheme. Should I gloss coat, or put down some Tamiya clear yellow, the plane before I spray on the matte scarlet to seal the raw umber? I know there are some compatability issues with some paints.

Make sure all of those previous coats are fully cured (I'd wait a week) then put a coat of Future to protect it.  Future won't damage the underlying enamel/oils and the Humbrol enamel should go on fine.

YMMV so test this on scrap plastic first.
