Tamiya liquid surface primer
Posted by Thwaite on Thursday, June 12, 2014 3:01 PM

Hey guys. Has anyone had any luck using the tamiya liquid surface primer. The 40 ml bottle not the rattle can.  If so what sort of ratio would you thin it for airbrushing. Having just bought a bottle any suggestions would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

In my experience, it's the most foolproof primer.  I thin it with Tamiya lacquer thinner to a 1:1 ratio & shoot it @ 20 psi. Because it adheres to plastic extremely well, you don't have to worry too much about surface prep.

I have used it as well. I thin it with generic hardware store lacquer thinner, also a a 1:1 ratio, and it airbrushes just fine. I cant tell you the PSI that I use, becuase my compressor has no PSI guage, only a valve to increase or decrease the pressure. But it works really well I must say.
